Empire of the Sun releases the first preview of the album «Two Vines»

Two vines

The Australian duo Empire of the Sun announced a few days ago the release of their next album, which will be titled 'Two Vines', and will be released through the Astralwerks label on October 28.

'Two Wines' will be the predecessor of 'Ice on the Dune', released in June 2013 and will also be the third studio album in the electro-pop duo's discography. The new work of Empire of the Sun was recorded in Hawaii and Los Angeles and was co-produced by the duo themselves in collaboration with Peter Mayes, a producer who has participated in other works by figures such as Sia, The Killers and Mika.

Special collaborations include musicians, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, Wendy Melvoin (Prince and the Revolution's) and two David Bowie collaborators on the 'Blackstar' album (2016), pianist Henry Hey and bassist Tim Lefebvre.

In the release press release, one of the duo's members, Nick Littlemore, described the theme that inspired the creative concept of 'Two Vines': «At the beginning of the project we had a still image, even before composing the first song, we had in mind a scenario where a modern city was engulfed by the vegetation of a jungle, we imagine a symbolism of how Mother Earth recovered the planet herself. All the buildings on the planet would once again be turned into sand, the entire environment created by man would again be absorbed by nature. We wanted to work on a new project that would reflect the beauty of such a setting and the way in which the wisdom of plants can provide us with the recipe on how to live in harmony with this beautiful planet ».

Also its vocalist, Luke Steele, gave his opinion on the new work: «One of the best ideas of this project has been the decision to go to record in Hawaii. Those islands with those landscapes were without a doubt one of the main motivations for me. I liked to spend the morning surfing, and then at nightfall I started composing the songs for this album ».

As a first preview of the new album the duo presented the unreleased single 'High and Low' this week.
