Emerging City 2011: Those New New Bands

Starting today and until next Monday, the festival starts at the Recoleta Cultural Center Emerging City, the youth meeting organized by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, which seems to be gradually establishing itself in the Buenos Aires cultural calendar.

With international bands specially brought in, the agenda for this fourth edition keeps attractive names and interesting proposals to discover new sounds. With a clear selection prioritizing independent alternative music, there will be a good number of bands playing live on two and up to three stages.

The ascendants So bionic (who took over the festival last year) are in charge of the opening day, today at 19 p.m., closely followed by the Spanish Love of Lesbian, which will be presented an hour later than the Argentines. Both recitals will be outdoors, on the terrace of the Cultural Center, an ideal place for the public.

Tomorrow, Friday afternoon, the day will begin with the presentations of the winners of the radio contest The demo blitz: Tourettes, Adella Project, and Kringer. Later, at 18, it will be the turn of the unclassifiable Alvy Singer Big Band, the project of Janus Seitun, an all-terrain musician and singer who went through countless orchestras and ensembles, to form the current band, with which he has released four albums. Will close the night Leonchalon, the Argentine reggae band formed by nine musicians, ready for the release of their second album, after Coronado, Of 2007.

On Saturday 18, at 16:XNUMX p.m., do not miss Erica Sativa, a funk-rock group with a female singer that is worth seeing live. The women will continue to command the festival, because at 17:XNUMX p.m., the girls from Links they will spit their rawest rock from the stage, in a show that will have to be discovered. A while later, it will be necessary to decide which band to put aside, because unfortunately the concerts of Hammocks to the river (a charming pop sextet with enveloping songs) and utopians (one of the great promises of local garage rock) overlap in the schedule: Hamacas plays at 17.45pm, in the Villa Villa room, while Utopians does so at 18.15pm, on the Terrace.

Although there will be several foreign visits throughout the festival, on Sunday we recommend the Chileans The Ganjas, a trans-Andean indie group that draws directly from the seventies psychedelic and the most ganchero stoner.

And on Monday, closing day, the main course. The Peruvian-Argentines The Peyotes, icons of the South American garage, will bring their retro quota with wild guitars, wild choirs and lots and lots of personality. This will be on the Terrace, at 17. Immediately after The Peyotes, another international visit will come: the Spanish trio Capsule, a group born in 1997, and that many compare with the mythical The Stooges. Recently released, they will present their album to the Argentine public In The Land Of Silver Souls.

So far, the suggested recitals to enjoy this Emerging City 2011. We remember (and warn) that there are countless activities and concerts to see, and that the comments are only a small part. To consult the Full schedule, they can go to the Official Site. From here we will try to cover as much as possible, and post as the festival progresses.
