Emeli Sandé returns to the music scene after four years, with a new album called 'Intermission'. This new work by the British singer and songwriter will be the successor to 'Our Version of Events' (Feb. 2012), an album that catapulted her to fame and with which she managed to garner excellent reviews and numerous awards, such as the Critic's Choice Awards. in the BRITs of 2012 and Best Album of the Year in 2013.

On August 25, Sandé shared a snippet of her upcoming album on her Twitter account, along with the message: "Inhale, exhale, release and let yourself receive forgiveness". After a series of teasers The British singer confirmed that 'Hurts' will be the first single from 'Intermission', the album that will be presented on September 16.

'Hurts' is a ballad composed by Emeli herself with the musicians Mac & Phil (Miguel, Naughty Boy). About this work the singer commented in the media: “I have decided to release 'Hurts' as the first single because I feel that this song represents everything that I have been avoiding saying for a long time. It is undoubtedly an internal catharsis. It synthesizes everything that I have wanted to say during all these last years, and that I no longer want to keep saving ”.

The new work reflects a personal stage of Sandé after his international consecration, which apparently has not been a bed of roses, as she confessed in a recent interview in which she related that, after finishing the launch tour of her debut album, she was exhausted and felt the pressure in her environment nearest: “I know this may sound a bit dramatic, but in those days I just wanted to disappear from the map. I felt overwhelmed and had a feeling that all this had to stop somehow. I knew how to react in time and then, little by little, everything began to gradually loosen. If I look back, I felt like I was inside a pressure cooker about to explode. Fortunately I knew when to put the brakes on and look inside myself to realize who I really am. It has been the greatest lesson I have learned in my life, to feel comfortable with myself, with what I represent and with the convictions that I defend ".
