David Gilmour returned to Pompeii with the Pink Floyd classics

David Gilmour Pompeii

Last Thursday (7) and Friday (8), the well-known musician David Gilmour returned to Pompeii (Italy), at the Amphitheater that featured him with his former group Pink Floyd 45 years ago.

These performances marked David Gilmour's return to the location where the historic 1971 concert was recorded., which marked a milestone in live performance in rock history. This legendary closed-door concert, without spectators, was immortalized in director Adrian Maben's rock-documentary film called 'Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii'. Just by sounding the introduction, 'Wish you were here', almost 3 followers from all over Italy and abroad entered into a collective delirium that shook the ruins of Pompeii.

Gilmour's followers have been extremely fortunate, because never before in the Pompeii amphitheater had a rock concert been held with the public present, but it is to be known that this privilege had a very high cost since each of the attendees had to pay no less than 345 euros per ticket, a fact that has sparked strong controversy in recent months.

The monumental show by David Gilmour was a true communion between the consecrated artist and his multitude of followers, who enjoyed a stage full of lights, fire and even witnessed a simulation of the volcano with fireworks that evoked the destruction that the city suffered for many centuries behind.

Gilmour performed classics like 'The Great Gig in the Sky', the smash hit from the album 'The Dark Side Of The Moon', and other topics to which the crowd constantly cheered. Throughout the concert Gilmour told his audience how happy he felt to be back in this monumental venue full of history after so many years, in the company of his followers.

The concert was divided into two sets in which the guitarist performed several hits of his career, including Pink Floyd songs such as 'Comfortably Numb', 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Money'. The musician showed his show in the middle of the venue mounted on a platform, and with a projector behind it that served as the scenery for the entire presentation.
