"Dark Blood", trailer for the posthumous film by River Phoenix

Eighteen years after the death of River Phoenix, director George Sluizer revealed that he is finishing "Dark Blood," a 1993 drama that Phoenix was filming when he died of a heart attack on Halloween night in Los Angeles. After the actor's deathApparently from a drug overdose, Sluizer took the "Dark Blood" footage and hid it for fear that it would be destroyed.

He has now re-edited the material, and believes that with a little voice work, he can deliver a final cut of the film for release at the Dutch Film Festival later this year. His plan was to ask Joaquin Phoenix to provide his brother's voice, but apparently the Phoenix family is not cooperating with the director.

Sluizer hopes that he can raise money from fans, since 4 years ago he was detected a
aneurysm and was told that years of life could be limited. I wanted to finish the movie now. It came as an urgency for me, but I also knew that there was still material for a good movie.

In the movie, River Phoenix plays a hermit living in the desert at a nuclear test site, while waiting for the end of the world. When a Hollywood VIP couple (played by Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce) arrive to find refuge, a conflictive relationship with the woman begins.
