The Cocktail Slippers.

St. Valentines Day Massacre is the title of the new album by this Norwegian female quintet. Rocket queen (guitar and voice), Squirrel (guitar), Bella donna (battery), Modesty blaze (organ and voice), Sugar cane (bass), are the names of this quintet of Oslo.

Formed as a band in Oslo in 2001, they began their musical journey as The Barbarellas, but the departure of their vocalist caused them to change their name, calling themselves The Cocktail Slippers. They debuted with the album Mastermind, under the watchful eye of Steve VanZandt (E-Street Band), who saw impressive potential in them. So much so, that he has finally finished producing this new album and writing the title track.

His music may sound like many things to us: The "Ramones of the 7th's, the ABBA from the 80's, even to The Breeders in the 90's, but the construction of their songs perhaps responds to archetypes more than 50 or 60, with short songs, well constructed, chorally similar to those wonderful voices of the shangri-las, although with the tonality and color of the voice of Rocket queen in this case, that he takes melismas from his throat attributable to singers already established as Chrissie hynde de The Pretenders, or the same Debbi harris de Blondie.

Excellent work by these 5 Norwegian warriors from the rockn'roll avant-garde European ... but enough of so much word, and let's see them in action ...Cheers!
