Coachella and Lollapalooza don't want stick-selfies at the festival

Stick-selfie

There are silly fashions and extra silly fashions. One of those fads is the use of the selfie stick, that just with the name makes you want not to leave home. The point is that the object in question is starting to be frowned upon at various festivals and usual concert venues. The reason is as simple and real as the fact that the selfie stick can be used as a throwing weapon. Imagine the case: Kanye West goes to Glastonbury, the organizers skipping the petition launched on Change.org, of the festival attendees - remember that the festival's capacity is 135.000 people and the petition has already gathered 131.000 signatures -, 20% were with their selfie stick ... how many of those sticks could end up on stage and / or Kanye West's head? Exactly.

The point is that the festival organizers of Coachella (Indio, California, from April 10) and Lollapalooza (Chicago, from July 31) are already telling their attendees that no taking selfie sticks to the venue, at least if you intend to enter. In addition, there are more festivals that are considering following the same steps as Coachella and Lollapalooza, such as Bonnaroo, Governors Ball and Sasquatch.

In the UK there are already venues where entry is not allowed with selfie sticks, such as the O2 Arena in London, the O2 Academy in Brixton and the SSE Wembley Arena. Nothing more necessary than a fan for the music machinery to work, but nothing more damaging than an angry fan, especially when they have spent their salary attending a festival and it has turned out to be a churro. For this reason ... and as a precaution ... always better without a selfie stick.
