The plot of the new installment is centered in Manhattan, in New York. Thirty years have passed and the ghosts and demons have once again escaped from the underworld to roam freely through the city. This time, the Ghostbusters team will be made up of a group of four women willing to end any paranormal threat.

Quantum physicist Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and her partner Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) have long been analyzing paranormal activity. And they see the opportunity to organize a new group of Ghostbusters, joined by the engineer Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) and Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), a subway ticket clerk who knows every corner of New York.
