El BAFICI (Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival) it's one of the festivals most important in all Latin America and this year, fully consolidated, it is going for its eleventh edition.

In this 2009, the BAFICI will start on March 25 (a few days earlier than previous editions) and will end on April 5. Throughout that week and a half, 417 films will be screened (290 feature films and 127 shorts and medium-length films) that will be shown in various cinemas in the city.

The film that will open the exhibition will be the Uruguayan-Argentine co-production, Gigante, by Adrián Biniez, which swept the last Berlinale, winning three awards. For its part, the one in charge of closing the festival will be the German Jerichow, by Christian Petzold.

As news, this BAFICI will have a new section baptized as BAFICITO, a space designed for the youngest, that will award the best film through the vote.

The jury will be made up of the French filmmaker Claire Denis, the Argentine writer Alan Pauls, the Italian Alberto Barbera, the Mexican Jaime Romandia and the American Kent Jones.
