Antonio Banderas, from Altamira to Picasso

Picasso flags

Last Friday it just premiered in Spain Altamira, L.he new film by Hugh Hudson (let's remember Chariots of Fire), starring Antonio Banderas, and which tells the story behind the discovery of the Altamira caves, one of the most famous in the world.

Banderas has claimed that he did not know this story, but acknowledges the harshness of the plot, based on the ability of human beings in general to adopt frivolous attitudes. In addition, the film addresses the typical debate between science, religion, history and faith.

Among the stories or scripts that Antonio Banderas recognizes that he would like to interpret is one based on the conquest of Granada, with the abdication of Boabdil included, and the meeting between the two Spains at the end of the XNUMXth century. He has even stated that he wrote a complete script himself, with a beautiful story about the year in which Granada fell and the courts of Castile entered. The problem in carrying out the project was financing, as happens on many occasions.

Regarding the rumors about the return of Zorro to the big screen, has ruled out returning to put a face to this well-known character, since they are different times in the filming. His last rendition of the vigilante of the "Z" was done in the purest classical style, with real sword fights, real horse falls, etc., and he wants to keep that memory.

Among the projects that most excite us is the role of Picasso, a role that he likes but imposes a lot of respect on him, because the image of the painter still contains a lot of mystery. The film will be shot with Carlos Saura. Banderas recognizes that it is a dream he has had for many years.

El Guernica will become a kind of movie screen where the different stories that occurred during the 33 days that the painter took to create the famous painting will be screened.
