Ang Lee could direct Jolie in a film about the life of Cleopatra

Jolie as Cleopatra

Following the withdrawal of director David Fincher from the project, Sony Pictures Entertainment has enlisted Ang Lee to be in charge of filming the film about the life of Cleopatra.

The project, which has been underway for six years, would have Angelina Jolie as the protagonist, who was linked to the project when it was at its beginning and is still waiting for filming to begin. In 2006, Columbia Pictures acquired the rights to a barely ten-page synopsis based on a book based on the life of Cleopatra that would be published three years later by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Stacy Schiff.

In October 2010, James Cameron was going to be in charge of directing the production that Sony Pictures Entertainment was in charge of and that already had the finished script of the Oscar winner for "LA Confidential" Brian Helgeland.

Scott Rudin already at that time reserved a position as producer of the film for when the project was consolidated.

In March 2011 the news was that David Fincher was going to be the director of the film and not James Cameron who decided to leave the project.

Now it is Fincher who leaves this job giving way to another director, possibly Ang Lee, who after filming "The Life of Pi" could venture with the life of Cleopatra.
