EOn March 27, the principal photography of the action film Hitman, which is being carried out by 20th Century Fox and EuropaCorp's, began to be developed. Directed by Xavier Gens and starring Timothy Olyphant, whom audiences may know from titles that will not go down in posterity, such as 60 Seconds, Diablo and Next Door, but without a doubt where he has earned his reputation is in the wonderful Deadwood series, which sadly has not been seen in Spain.
The film is based on the successful video game series of the same name. With a script adapted by Skip Woods (Swordfish), the film revolves around Agent 47 (Olyphant), who has been raised to become a professional hitman, and whose most powerful weapons are his guts and pride in his work. The number 47 signifies the last two numbers of the barcode tattooed on his neck and his only name.
The hunter becomes the hunted when the liquidator becomes a suspect in a political revolt. Both Interpol and the Russian military are chasing Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find who set him up and why.
The cast is completed with Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II among others), Olga Kurylenko (Paris je t'aime), Robert Knepper (yes gentlemen, T-Bag in Prison Break), Ulrich Thomsen (Festen) and Michael Offei (Casino Royale).
For my taste, the choice of Olyphant does not suit much taking into account the characteristics of the character but we will have to give him a chance before judging him. Although other names were being considered, among which the one with the most strength was Vin Diesel, for my taste the one who had really nailed it would have been the great Jason Statham. A pity that the producers have not thought about it.
The first shooting unit will be filming around Sofia (Bulgaria) for twelve weeks. While the second unit will do it in different places in South Africa, Istanbul, St. Petersburg and London.
