The famous Nordic group will share, next March, home with the greatest artists in the world of music, when they become part of the famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the United States.
Through an official statement, the president of the association, Joel Peresmann, announced that in 2010, the four members of ABBA (Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad) will join the organization, in an act in which British bands will also become part of the museum Genesis and The Hollies, the precursors of punk The Stooges, and the classic reggae singer, Jimmy Cliff.
Peresman was interested in highlighting the new role that the institution wishes to play: «The new promotion of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame represents great artists of different genres that define the broad spectrum and history of rock and roll, as well as people who have contributed greatly to our business.. In this way, the doors are opened to other genres that are not necessarily rock music. The authorities supported their decision, arguing that "ABBA was one of the best-selling groups in the history of pop music."
The ceremony is scheduled for the March 15th of next year, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
