They could boycott Soraya at Eurovision

Soraya Eurovision

La TVE's decision to broadcast the Eurovision semi-final on a delayed basis where the representatives of Andorra and Portugal could negatively impact voting for  Soraya Arnelas, the candidate from Spain. This has been made clear after some statements by Susanne georgi, representative of the principality, in which he said: «TVE's decision is a pretty ugly decision on the part of Spain ". This has led to suppose that the voters of these countries could opt directly to ignore the Spanish singer.

Likewise, the representative has said that “the Andorran public chain, ATV, has focused the promotion in Spain, so now, that expense is useless«. Hence the anger has increased.

And it is not surprising that this conflict has occurred, since TVE had to broadcast the first semifinal of the festival live next Tuesday, May 12 (it had been assigned by lottery), but they have only requested to broadcast the second live semifinal, the one on May 14. Why?

The public broadcaster plans to broadcast a special about Soraya and the Debate on the State of the Nation, that we all know that it usually takes hours and hours to finish.

Likewise, Soraya arnelas, concerned about her situation, has sent a statement: «[…] I am a singer, just like my colleagues Flor-de-Lis and Susanne Georgi. Our job, our responsibility is to give the best of ourselves as artists. However, it does not escape me that in Eurovision we singers represent our countries and that, therefore, there is a very "political" part in this festival.

[..] Where I have nothing to do with is the decisions about Eurovision that do not strictly refer to my profession, whether it is television grills or any other aspect related to the organization of such a complex festival. […] Especially when RTVE is forced to combine the festival with other programming obligations that, as a public channel, it must comply with.

[…] I understand your anger. I would like that in Eurovision the quality of the artists will prevail, that the artists will be voted on… […] But those calls for a boycott, directed against my candidacy, are proof that for many this is secondary.«
