The bar will be the new movie of Alex de la Iglesia. After having a remarkable success with the hilarious My Big Night, the director will return to tell us another crazy story full of peculiar characters.
On this occasion the producers will be Caroline Bang and the director himself. They will also have the help of the Valencian producer Nobody is perfect PC. Mario Casas and Blanca Suárez will be the protagonists. These actors have undoubtedly become the favorites of the Bilbao director.
The premise of "The bar" is the following: a group of people locked inside a bar, will have to face a kind of exterminating angel willing to shoot anyone who comes out. The tensions between the characters locked there, will create a large number of extreme but comic situations where themes such as deception, betrayal and guilt will be explored. And of course, the bar counter is the best place to reveal sins and faults.
At first glance it seems that the story outline is very similar to the one the director followed in his previous film. It seems that this narrator is very good at sowing chaos among so many characters (I think I have even heard him in an interview who usually tries to sow the case in his stories). And it is that when the characters are put to the limit they work very well.
The project looks good. It seems that the director has got the hang of working in this badly wounded film industry. Making entertaining films, with unique characters, funny plots and with little expense in special effects is a formula that Alex de la Iglesia knows how to exploit. And the legion of fans that he has we like it that way. If a waiting date is specified soon, it will be a little less burdensome.
