"Soekarno" to represent Indonesia at the Oscars

Indonesia will once again seek its first nomination for the Oscar, this time the chosen one is «Sukarno»By Hanung Bramantyo.

This will be the 17th time Indonesia Presents Film For Hollywood Academy Award Shortlist To Best Foreign Language Film, a category in which it has never even managed to pass the first sieve.

«Soekarno» by Hanung bramantyo has been selected by Indonesia this year to try to make history. The film is about the umpteenth work of its director, which has great prestige in his country.

Set in 1931, «Soekarno», «Soekarno: Indonesian Merdeka»In its original title, it tells how the Government of the Netherlands East Indies captures the young Sukarno, an activist in favor of Indonesian independence, on the island of Java. Sent to Banceuy Prison in Bandung, he found a way to fight and deliver his famous speech during the trial. This story follows the life of Soekarno, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia, from his childhood until he managed to proclaim the freedom of Indonesia with Mohammad Hatta.
