This film will not only represent Slovakia in the Hollywood Academy Awards, if not that it will also do it in the European Film Awards, the European Film Awards, since it is among the 50 shortlisted for this new edition that will take place in Riga in December and of which the nominees will be known at the Seville Festival that will be held from November 7 to 15 .
The film had its world premiere at the recently held Montreal Festival, after its premiere in Slovak cinemas last June.
«Step into the Dark«, Set in the Second World War and the following period, tells the story of a young doctor who is forced to execute innocents during the war period. After the end of the war, the doctor begins a relationship with a married woman as she struggles to come to terms with her past.
This will be the 18th time that Slovakia has presented a film for the Oscar preselection of Best Foreign Language Film without ever having obtained the candidacy.
