Slipknot vocalist calls Gene Simmons (Kiss) to silence

Corey Taylor Gene Simmons

Gene Simmons created quite a controversy in the artistic environment when a few weeks ago he declared in an interview that rock had not died for being old, but had been directly massacred. The veteran rocker justified this statement by putting online piracy as the main culprits and also the record labels that support musicians who make rock as they should, stating that "Rock is definitely dead".

Faced with the controversial statements of Simmons, Corey Taylor, lead singer of Slipknot, came out to the crossover of the Kiss bassist and took the opportunity to clear things up regarding this issue. In an interview for an American radio, Taylor stated: “I think a lot of people focus too much on sales, because it doesn't relate to how many people have listened to your music. Do you know what I mean? These days it's about getting people to listen to music. I mean, we had three billion views of the Knotfest live streams. They don't give you an award for that. Also, we had many visits to the videos of 'The Negative One' and 'The Devil in I'. For me that is a great success beyond sales ".

“I loved the fact that we have been in the top sales with our latest album '.5: The Gray Chapter', for the last few months. I'm really proud that this happened. But at the same time, there is no exact relationship between how many people have listened to it or how many have bought specific songs. Although the fact that 65 thousand people followed us at Knotfest, it proves something, doesn't it? You don't need a platinum album to get that success. So with all due respect to Mr. Simmons, I think I should go out more to see what happens in the world of rock before affirming something like that ".
