Rolling Stones songs censored in China again

Rolling Stones censorship China

The British press reported that during the second concert of the Rolling Stones in China, held last Wednesday (12) in the city of Shanghai, the legendary rock band had to remove two songs from its setlist since were censored by the government, who expressly requested to remove them from the concert the day before. The band had to remove the songs 'Honky Tonk Women' and 'Brown Sugar' from the setlist, because before the second concert the band had to deliver the list of songs they planned to play and these last two songs were not approved. by the Chinese authorities.

During the concert his own Mick Jagger explained to the audience gathered at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai last Wednesday: "Now we would normally play something like 'Honky Tonk Women'… .but it has been banned". The British singer thus informed the audience of the change, but did not reveal the reasons why the song had been banned in the Asian country. It should be remembered that the mythical rock group were also victims of Chinese censorship eight years ago also at a concert held in Shanghai, when they were banned from singing 'Brown Sugar', 'Honky Tonk Women' and 'Let's Spend The Night Together' .
