Roman Polanski has already chosen the couple he wants as the protagonist of his next project 'Pompeii'. 'Pompeii' will be Polanski's first epic blockbuster, with a budget of 130 million dollars, in which he will relate the last two days of the Roman city before the tragic eruption of Vesuvius, which on August 24, 79, ended the life its thousands of inhabitants and buried the city under a sea of lava and ash, perpetuating it as it was through the centuries.

The script for 'Pompeii' is based on the Robert Harris bestseller of the same title and is written by Polanski in collaboration with Harris himself. Shooting is scheduled to start in August and last for five months. In addition, most of the film will be filmed in Spanish territory, specifically in Alicante's Ciudad de la Luz, whose studios have recently hosted another important production, such as 'Asterix at the Olympic Games'.
