Natalie Cole dies at 65 in Los Angeles

Natalia Cole

Natalie Cole, one of the great voices of R&B for decades, passed away on December 31 in a Los Angeles hospital at age 65. The information that comes from TMZ is that the cause of death was congestive heart failure, all as a result of a kidney transplant and Hepatitis C. Natalie Cole's disease had already caused the cancellation of several shows for this past December, which it included the New Year's concert at Disney Hall in Los Angeles.

Natalie Cole's life was not without dark episodes, like his well-known addiction to cocaine and heroin, addictions for which he had to enter a rehabilitation center in 1983. Due to his Hepatitis C, Cole also had to undergo chemotherapy. After overcoming her drug addiction, Natalie Cole reappeared in 1987 as a pop singer. She was married three times and had a son, Robert Adam Yancy, with music producer Marvin Yancy.

The musical career was full of successes. The more than 30 million copies sold during his career are the best example of the impeccable quality of his voice.. His album 'Unforgettable… with Love' was a true generator of awards -only with this album he won six Grammy Awards in 1992-, selling 7 million copies and achieving record of the year; one of the great moments of Natalie Cole, without a doubt, when she had already enjoyed success in the 70s and 80s with works like 'This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) or the version she made of the success of Bruce Springteen' Pink Cadillac.

It was Natalie Cole's representative who reported the fatal news in the middle TMZ: «It is with great regret in our hearts that we bring you the news that our mother and sister have passed away. Natalie has faced a fierce battle, dying just as she lived… with dignity, strength and honor. We will miss our mother and sister very much, who will remain UNFORGETTABLE -referencing his hit 'Unforgettable'- in our hearts forever ».
