Mónica Naranjo premieres "Never"

Mónica Naranjo

After seven eternal years without any album with new material from Mónica Naranjo, only with some singles, live albums and the compilation with her updated hits, the Figueres diva returns to the musical arena with the first single from that album from which she came speaking from the 'Adagio' tour. This presentation single is entitled 'Never' and in it, more dramatic than ever, it tells us the story of a mother who loses her son. The presentation of 'Jamás' has also been accompanied by the premiere of the video clip, with all the dramatic charge that a song like this needs and that a diva like Mónica Naranjo deserves. The video clip of 'Never' has been directed by David Arnal and Germán de la Hoz.

There was already talk of 'Lubna' that it would be a rock opera, so the first listen to 'Never' does not end up being too brutal a shock, although, personally, after his 'Adagio' - of indisputable quality, that is undeniable - to return again to orchestral arrangements ends with - at least for me- poke my balloon a bit. 'Never' sounds big, huge, dramatic to the max, but it doesn't sound new. In fact at the beginning it seems that you are going to listen to a second part of 'Europe', and that, after so long, I think it is not good. With regard to the video clip, there it does not disappoint. Monica is a diva from head to toe, for better and for worse, and as such she needs all the exaggerated drama and that aesthetic so Fellini of the video clip to be able to shine that halo of greatness that always goes with her when it comes to sing. After the jump you can see the video for 'Jamás'.

I have followed Mónica Naranjo from the beginning, but not from that beginning of the 'Desátame' boom in Spain, no, from the very beginning, when 'Sola' sounded on Cadena Dial and she had not yet left for Mexico, as far as I know what I'm talking about. Knowing his career and how it has evolved on a musical level, it would have been better than beastly than that rock opera come with musical arrangements in plan '4.0' and not bringing back 'Adagio' to the fore, which as a parenthesis was very good, but that's it. It is still too early to criticize anything, because we only know what 'Never' is like, still having a generous tracklist to discover. I don't know about you, but I need that step forward from Mónica Naranjo. What did you think of 'Never'?
