Manic street preachers debuted in 1992 with "Generation Terrorists". To celebrate the 20th anniversary, a commemorative edition will be launched on November 5.
It will be available in various formats (all with the remastered recording): standard CD; download; a "Legacy Edition", with two CDs and a DVD; a "Limited Collector's Edition", which will contain three CDs, a DVD, a book and a 10? vinyl; and a double vinyl. Special editions include previously unreleased songs, demos, unseen footage, and home movies.
The group is known for its clever and habitually political lyrics. Although they were characterized by having been a punk-rock band during the first stage of their career, currently their music is considered as alternative rock, due to major changes in its sound. His last studio album was released in 2010 under the name "Postcards From A Young Man".
The lyricist and guitarist Richey james edwards, (who preferred to be known as Richey James) mysteriously disappeared in 1995, being declared legally dead in 2008.
