Katy Perry accused of plagiarism by a group of Christian rappers

Katy Perry Dark Horse

This week the popular singer Katy Perry has been involved in a controversy after a Christian rap group decided to sue her, accusing her of plagiarizing one of her songs, included in Perry's album Prism. The Christian rap group called 'Flame' claims that Perry plagiarized his song 'Joyful Noise', released five years ago, to use it in the music of his well-known single 'Dark Horse'.

The religious rap group made up of musicians Marcus Gray, Chike Ojukwu, Lecrae Moore and Emanuel Lamber decided to file this lawsuit in the Federal Court of the city of St. Louis (Missouri, USA). The members of Flame also accused Perry of misrepresenting their religious song and turning it into the opposite, since it evokes witchcraft, paganism, black magic and includes images of the Illuminati, which are represented by both music and video. from 'Dark Horse'.

According to the rap group, the video for 'Dark Horse' spreads images of profanity, which is why even in recent weeks an online petition was promoted signed by more than 60 thousand people calling for a religious symbol to be removed from the video. The members of Flame are demanding financial damages from the pop star, and requesting that Perry stop misusing their song.
