The Spanish multi-award winner Javier Bardem, summoned by great directors in recent years, will add to its excellent curriculum, a leading man under the orders of the Balkan Emir Kusturica.
After having worked with the cohen brothers and got the Oscar for No Country For Old Men, the actor had the luxury of being part of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the latest romantic comedy of Woody Allen. This time, bardem was chosen by the particular filmmaker (and musician!) kusturica, to put yourself in the shoes of the mythical Pancho Villa, in a movie about the Mexican Revolution.
The tape would be called, tentatively, Seven friends of Pancho Villa and the woman with six fingers and is based on the novel The Friends of Pancho Villa, written James carlos blakand. The story tells of the fall of the dictatorship of Victoriano Huerta and the revolution led by Pancho Villa.
The love and appreciation that he possesses is known kusturica for Latin American history and characters, as demonstrated in his documentary on Maradona. Filming is expected to begin in late-early 2010 and will be filmed entirely in Mexico.
