«The Gift»Will represent Ireland in the preselection to Oscar de Best Foreign Language Film.
This will be the third time that Ireland will seek a nomination for the award previously known as best foreign film.
Once again it will be Tom Collins whoever tries to get the first candidacy for Ireland in the Academy Awardsas the director tried "Kings" in 2007 the first time Ireland sent a film.
Juanita Wilson tried it in 2011 with "As If I Am Not There", neither of the two attempts was successful since both tapes were discarded at the first exchange.
This year Tom Collins will try again with his new film «The Gift», «An Bronntanas»In its original title, a contemporary Irish thriller set against the coast of Connemara in the west of Ireland and the dramatic lives of a local lifeboat crew.
