Enrique Sierra, the guitarist of Radio Futura, dies

Enrique Sierra

With only 54 years we learned yesterday of the death of Enrique Sierra in Madrid, remembered above all for his work as a guitarist in Future Radio, although at the end of the seventies he already recorded with Kaka de Luxe, the group that would be like the beginning of the Movida, where he coincided with Alaska, Fernando Márquez "El Zurdo", Carlos Berlanga, Nacho Canut and Manolo Campoamor.

Enrique Sierra, who was born in Madrid on July 29, 1957, joined Radio Futura since its inception and was in the re-founding of the group, led by himself and Luis and Santiago Auson, with whom he would remain until the end of the band. His guitar, to a large extent, defined the sound of Radio Futura. At one time, in the midst of success, and due to health problems (a kidney was transplanted), he had to abandon the direct of the group.

In 1995 he recorded solo the album "Mentiras" and in 1999 would give shape to CLUB, an electronic experience with Luis Auserón and Pilar Román. In recent times, he was linked to his own recording studio and the web 127.es, designed as a commercial and alternative platform for visual and musical artists.

Enrique Sierra has died as a result of the complications derived from the second kidney transplant to which he submitted a while ago. However, Enrique will always be remembered for being the co-author of such essential songs of our pop as "The Statue of the Botanical Garden" or "School of Heat".
