Disney denounces the plagiarism of "Cars"

Disney denounces three Chinese companies for plagiarizing 'Cars'

In Disney they state that The two main protagonists of 'The Autobots', called K1 and K2, are humanized cars that seem inspired and copied from 'Lightning' McQueen and Francesco Bernouilli from the Pixar films

Everything seems to arise from the controversy that has arisen after the opening of the first Disney theme park in Shanghai, China. The North American multinational has denounced three Chinese companies before a court in the same city, which it accuses of plagiarizing its animated film "Cars".

Disney requires in its lawsuit that the three companies that have produced the Chinese animated film "The Autobots", which premiered in July 2015, paralyze distribution, demanding compensation from others, two of them of four million yuan (about 600 thousand dollars).

The People's Court of Pudong, the area where Disney is based, has accepted the lawsuit. The defendant companies are: the production company Lanhuoyan, from the port city of Xiamen (southeastern province of Fujian), the media management company G-Point, from Beijing, and the audiovisual content distribution portal PPLive, the only one in the three to which Disney does not require financial compensation at the moment.

Recall that "Cars" is a 2006 children's film from Pixar studios, controlled by Disney, whose sequel, "Cars 2," was released in 2011. Another compelling reason that they use at Disney is that the poster promoting "The Autobots" is strangely very similar to one used for "Cars 2", further stating that the Chinese name for both films is confusingly similar, differing only by a couple of characters.

From one of the defendant companies, Lanhuoyan, they have defended themselves saying that are not responsible for any plagiarism, that their creators developed their film independently, and has presented "numerous differences" between the two films, such as the appearance of the main cars.
