Depeche Mode: more 'universal' than ever

Depeche Mode

The contrast between melody and melancholy is probably the reason why the Depeche Mode have been for 30 years one of the most important groups in the musical world.

Gaham, Gore y Fletcher (and of course the talented ex-member Alan Wilder) have been on the verge of separating several times, almost passed away, and managed to gracefully dodge the adjective 'obsolete'(at least, most of the time).

Along the way, they have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and continue to offer one of the best live shows of all time: only on the last tour, they summoned almost 3 million of people in 31 countries.

Sounds Of The Universe (Mute / EMI), whose exit is expected for the April 21, is the group's twelfth album and, in one way or another, stands as a reminiscence of the mythical rapist (1990), loaded with danceable rhythms with a wink of darkness.

El Tour of the Universe, the respective promotional tour whose name seems to remind us of the universal character of the band, is already running out of tickets even in markets that are somewhat difficult to conquer, such as eastern Europe.

"From the beginning, Depeche Mode managed to connect with the audience much better than other groups. It was never a 'us and them' ... it was more of a 'one-on-one' relationship ...”, Comments the president of Mute Records.

The magazine Billboard He did a very interesting interview with them a few days ago: you can read it by clicking on this link.
