Argentina: free music for those who pay their taxes

Controversy in Argentina: the tax collection agency of the province of Buenos Aires (ARBA) signed an agreement with Sony Music by which taxpayers with their daily tax payments will be able to download music from the internet legally and for free.

This agreement provides that taxpayers without registered debts will be able to download from the internet platform of ArbaTracks over the next six months up to a maximum of 90 songs within the label's repertoire of Argentine artists Sony Music.

The owner of the agency, Martin Di Bella, stressed that this initiative revalues the «efforts of neighbors who are up to date with their taxes and promote a positive tax culture«.

And I add: "In addition, as they are songs by national artists, this program also aims to promote Argentine music and highlight the value of legality, raising awareness about how important it is to combat and discourage piracy.«.

Although the measure can be seen as original, it is still recurring that the poor continue to be punished and the rich are rewarded in a country that has one of the highest tax rates on the planet.
