After several decades after the project, the North American production company Universal Pictures seems to have managed to launch 'Unbroken', a biopic based on the true story of Louis Zamperini. And as we said, although last year it was announced that Francis Lawrence would be the director of the project, it seems that his commitments to the saga have not allowed him to do so. Thus, the studio that had been looking for a replacement for some time finally seems to opt for the actress Angelina Jolie. The project would be the North American's second job in directing, after 'In a land of blood and honey', his first flirtation at the controls. The film 'In the Land of Blood and Honey', which for many Serbs only offers a vision of the Bosnian war, received unfair and negative reviews in Belgrade.
The film, based on the book by Laura Hillenbrand, tells the story of Zamperini, a man who competed in the 1936 Olympics and fought in World War II as an Air Force bomber. His plane crashed in the Pacific during a rescue mission and was captured by the Japanese, who released him after the war.
The screenwriter of'Les Miserables', William Nicholson, will be in charge of readapting the original script by Richard LaGravenese. The production company Walden Media will also participate in the financing of the film.
